Thai food festival
Today I want to talk about what I did for my weekend. Nino and I went to the Thai food festival. Mr. McRady drove us to there. After we went in, we saw a LOT of food. Then, Mr. Mcrady introduced the place to us. There were some people performing. Mr. Mcrady's daughter Siree performed Thai dance. There were also people singing, doing the Thai boxing and lottery. We went to the thai food festival not only just for good food, but for the 7 service hours that we need as a freshman. I already did 4 hours. We were working at the " Love Thai sushi restaurant" They cooked red curry spaghetti, green curry spaghetti, and deep fried chicken. Our jobs were passing those 10% coupon card to people. At first, Nino and I were shy and afraid to give the cards. After going through some struggles, we finally decided to be brave and try to give out the cards. After that we served food for others. The good thing is we can eat whatever we want. We came back with a stomach of food. We enjoyed doing public service and we surely will attend the thai food festival next year! By the way, the only thing I didn't like was there were a LOT of wasps and some unfamiliar bugs. That really scared me.

Sugar
I think school cafeterias should stop providing or selling soda. Soda isn't healthy to people, especially to teenagers. I've seen a research, it showed that a single can of soda contains ten teaspoons of sugar. That's a lot of sugar. Having too much sugar in one's body is a bad thing. It can lead to over-weight and some health problems. Soda also has phosphoric acids in it. Having too much of it can lead to slowing digestion and bone softening. That's really dangerous for body. Some sodas contain caffeine. It can lead you to breast lumps, high blood pressure, ireegular heart beat and certain cancers. The water in soda is just tap water that maybe contains some chemicals. Drinking soda is also bad for your teeth. It can lead to cavity in teeth and gum diseases. After you have been drinking soda a lot, you will realize that you are addict to it. Above all, I really think school cafeterias should stop selling soft drinks and other high-sugar drinks. Most of the students are still teenagers and don't know what is good or bad, they can't control themselves. So I think school should stop providing soda and other soft drinks.

spring break
I went back to my home in Shanghai, China during spring break. You wouldn’t believe that I had fun time. It took me 16 hours on the plane. Nino was going back with me. We were so tired but also excited to go home. I met my friend Coco in Shanghai. She was studying in Seattle, and she also went back home during spring break. Our friends were all in school studying. We went to school and visit them. They already had a break before us. Her dad drove us to Disney for one day and he picked us up at 10 pm. It was so nice of him to drive me home because Disney is far from my house. Shanghai disney is really fun. Its rides were so fun. We had a great time in there. We went to eat hot pot with her friend. Their pots were filled with food. We went to a place that was full of succulent plants. Those were soo cute. I also met my other friend. We went to eat some Chinese food. His mom drove me home after we finished. Spring break has ended. But I’m not ready for school!!

Skiing
Few months ago, Nino and I signed up for the skiing. I went skiing once when I was 8, and I still remember that I was scared of the automatic door and don't want to go inside the skiing area. And I also couldn't ski down the hill. Last week, we went to skiing in West Virginia. The place we went skiing is called Snowshoe. There were 16 people on that trip and Mr. Griggs drove two buses. We drove about 6 hours Friday, and we found a hotel to sleep. The next morning, we woke up at 7 and ate breakfast. We departured at 8. and we arrived at the skiing place at about 3:30. We unpacked our stuff and chose our room. Luckily, me and Nino got the biggest room. And the other room is only one arm wide. Emma and Ms. Xia were in there. After we Seattle down, we took the bus and went to the rental place. We rent a helmet, skis, ski boots. We have to carry all the stuff around. It is sooo uncomfortable to walk in the ski boots. They are also really really heavy. Besides we also need to carry skis and walk around. After we rent our stuff, we went to the teaching area to practice. Before skiing, we have to put our skis on. That part was a struggle. I screamed a lot because the ice was really slippery and I can't control myself. After I put on my skis, I fell. And I couldn't get up because I was wearing the skis. Nino and Ms. Xia had to help me get up.
The next day, we were practicing in the practice area. And Emma taught me and Ms. Xia how to turn and stop. She really helped me a lot. The next day, which is the last day to ski, Nino, Ms. Xia and I went the Easiest way down. I don't think it's easy at all because we all fell sooo many times at the turning place. We also went to the Silver Creek and we skied from the top to the bottom and took the lift to the bus stop. I found that I fell every time getting off the lift. That was a nightmare to me. Every time before getting off the lift, I was always very nervous and ready to fall. At 6:30 P.M. we all took the bus and returned our skis. After I returned the skis, I realized how much I miss skiing and how fun skiing was.

Christmas Break
During the Christmas break, I went back to Shanghai, China. It wasn’t as cold as Bell Buckle. I went to Hong Kong, Tianmu Lake and Hangzhou. I went to Hong Kong with my mom.We did some shopping. I bought a LOT of facemasks. I had some good food there. I went to Tianmu Lake with my mom and my dad. The Lake was really pretty. And we lived in a hotel right beside the lake. The lake view in the hotel was amazing. There was a movie room in the hotel. So we went to see the movie Logan. And that movie gave me a nightmare. I couldn’t fall asleep in the midnight. We stayed 2 days in Hangzhou. We lived in Aman Fayun Hotel. This hotel is surrounded by mountains. We climbed 2000 stairs the other day up to the mountain. And we missed the train back to Shanghai. So we bought another three tickets that departures 2 hours after the one we missed. Most of the time, I stayed in home eating and watching tv shows. I had a LOT of Chinese food. Me and Nancy went out to eat twice. We ate pepper fish twice. And we went to the cat coffee house. There are a LOT of cute cats there. We took a lot of pictures and videos of cats. I also went so see my cousin and I can’t believe that he is much taller than me. I am so sad that the break is over. I had so much fun. And I am not ready for school. :(

10 things that I am thankful for
1.I am thankful for my mom.
2. I am thankful for Dr. Barger for waking us up at 7 every morning.
3. I am thankful for Mrs. Berzinskas for correcting our grammar mistakes and helping us prove our English skills.
4. I am thankful for the kitchen stuff for making us delicious food everyday.
5. I am thankful for the custodial in the school and the dorm.
6. I am thankful for nature.
7. I am thankful for my family for always taking care of me since I was born.
8. I am thankful for my advisor Dr. Broadhead.
9. I am thankful for the dorm parents for taking care of every member in Davis.
10. I am thankful for the good weather.
I am thankful for Mrs. Berzinskas for her guidance and support. Because I am an international student in school, grammar is really hard for me. Mrs. Berzinskas-- my English teacher, she always help me when I have questions whether in English or things that happens around me. She always teaches us grammar in a way that is easy for us to understand. When I wrote an essay but I have a lot of grammar mistakes, I usually go and ask her for help. And she always helps me patiently. One time, I don't understand what the speech topic is, I asked her. She created an outline. After she explained to me I knew exactly what to do. Writing speech became much more easier for me. She also helped all of us filled in the boarding ware leaving information. She also provides candies for us to eat, tea and lemonade for us to drink before class. I am lucky to have the best English teacher in the world. Wherever I may go in my life, I will always remember the things you taught me and the useful English skills that I learned from your class.

Fall Break
Fall break is over right now. So I want to talk about how I spent it. I stayed in the dorm for the whole fall break because there were literary no trips. The only trips I went on was the Target trip and the Avenue trip. I went to Target with Nino. We went there and got ourselves some ice-cream, some chips, and some candy. We bought lots of food. We ate ice-cream every morning during fall break. On Sunday, Nino and I were planning to go downtown. After we signed out, we saw Nathan, who was getting into a car. He told us that he was going to Walmart, and there were two spots left. Then Nino and I went back to the dorm and signed us out to Walmart. Then we hopped into Mr. Griggs's car, and he drove us to Walmart. Because I love watermelon and there was nothing to buy, the only thing I got was a bowl full of watermelon. We went to the Avenue on Tuesday. We went to some good stores and bought some clothes. That trip was really fun.
The other thing we did was we watched some movies and some tv shows. We watched Flipped, Hide and Seek, The House of Wax, and Orphan. They all were really really good movies. I loved them so much. If I have time in the future, I will probably watch them again. We played many games of poker. And I always lost. :)
I studied biology during the fall break because Mrs. Seals told us that we will have a quiz on Friday. I really don't want to get a bad grade. I got a 55 on my first vocabulary quiz. I was scared of getting a bad grade, so I forced myself to review biology. I realized that I forgot everything. Therefore, I went over everything that Mrs. Seals taught us. I have a feeling that biology is sooo difficult for me. I can't even understand what lysosome. cytoskeleton, cytoplasm, or ribosome means in Chinese. Biology is really driving me crazy. Nancy always gets an A+ in biology. This makes me feel jealous. I have to spent more time then she does to learn and review.
Even though fall break was boring, I miss it already!!!
